Be a Missionary Where?

Here at Southern Wesleyan University the students are taught to dream big according to God’s plan for their lives. I’m sure through out my life, I have dream huge impossible and the possible. Many careers where the ones that never seem normal. At the age of 5, I decides in thirty years that I was going to direct the Indiana Wesleyan University Chorale. While living in Flint Michigan, the idea about being a chaplain for the Michigan State police seem to be adventurous. There have being countless other including FBI translator, the Army, being President of the USA and taking Dr. Black’s or Dr. Bence’s job on teaching church history. Some how God plan my career on compassion.

As I enter in the new semester, some thing was keeping down. Most freshmen that I knew in Christian Ministries had a sense where God was taking them. Some wanted to go into youth, others wanted  to be senior pastors or plant a church yet some people were planning to enter the mission field. I knew for a fact that I was going to ministry, but why? Being that I was single female in a mostly male domain major bought a steep and rocky hill to climb. Churches would rather be with out a pastor then have a woman preach. Wrong but true. I spent a lot of time in prayer, asking God to conform my call. Two ministries were put before me, either one I could be happy with.  Music and inner city, two direct opposites yet supported each other. God wanted me to be a missionary; to the United States.  Many of the world’s problems like HIV, poverty, hunger, also happen the States. I’m still waiting to receive more details, but it will be intersting, as I take classes here at SWU.
